Hi everyone, and welcome to another SUO challenge where this week for the SUOC#282 the theme was to make something using 'Plant life'. Well there are so many beautiful stampsets at the moment with Stampin' Up! that are to do with plants and flowers, I struggled to decide which set to actually use, but I have to say that I am rather loving this 'Quiet meadow' bundle and this was the one that one me over...............
So let's see how to make the card I chose for you today, I hope you like it and try it out yourselves too, it would be great if you joined in with the challenge and shared what you come up with, we always love to see everyones creativity.
I chose to make a relatively simple card for you today, it's a top fold card which I felt was needed to show the full beauty of the flowers off..
My base card I've created using the thick basic white cardstock, which I have then layered inside with a slightly smaller piece of basic white cardstock.
For the front of the card I've added a smaller layer again, of evening evergreen cardstock, this is attached flat to the front of the card just using glue.
The basic white layer for the front I have inked the wording image within the Quiet meadow stampset using mint macaron ink, letting the image hang over the edge (I've started about 5cm up from the bottom) and getting smaller and smaller as I went up the card piece. I've then taken the dotty image and using 2nd generation ink in the same colour I've inked the dots again about 5cm up from the bottom and inked on the opposite side from the wording. Then using a blending brush I've very softly inked over the dotty side, not sure if this actually shows up in the picture very well, it just adds a really soft feel to the card.
Next I've cut myself a piece of the stripey piece of Hand Penned dsp making it 5cm in height and a fraction smaller than the white layer, this piece I have then glued onto a piece of basic white cardstock, this just adds depth to the card without making the card too thick for postage. This is then glued flat to the stamped white piece, a strip of tear n tape ( cut in half lengthways to make it thinner in width) is then attached to the card piece just above where the stripey paper is. I've then attached three lengths of the linen thread onto the tear n tape and then attached this whole section onto the card front over the evening evergreen layer.
I die cut 3 of the leafy stalks, one from basic white, one from evening evergreen and the other from mint macaron cardstock. The beautiful flower has been stamped using evening evergreen ink and then the leaves and stems have been coloured in using the ink from the image and a blender pen, I've also done this to the centres of the flowers to pull out someof the green ink in the middle. For the yellow, I placed my clear block A onto the So saffron inkpad, this creates a small inked area of which I then used my blending pen again to pick up and paint with onto the flowers, this is a great way of colouring, but don't press too hard with the pen! Next with my snips I fussy cut the flowers out.
All of the flowers and stalks are positioned together, on the back of the stems I attached a glue dot and then wrapped the linen thread around it, this gives the effect of a bouquet. I attached another glue dot to the front of the thread and attached a tiny double bow on the front to finish it. The bouquet then has mini dimensionals placed onto the reverse side and is attached to the front of the card.
The next thing I did then was to die cut the stitched label that comes within the die set, and then with the white embossing powder and using the versamark ink, I heat embossed the sentiment.
I did snip the ends off of my sentiment just leaving all of the stitched sides showing as I thought it looked better without for this card, and then attached it to the card front using mini dimensionals again. Last thing I did was to attach 3 of the really pretty brushed metallic dots to the card and then it was finished.
Like I said I really like this Quiet meadow bundle its just so pretty to use!
