About Me

My photo
My name is Natalie and I love anything to do with card/paper. I have been a papercrafter for many years now and I never get bored playing with all the wonderful products available. I've been married to my wonderful husband Nathan for 35years now and we are still very much in love with each other as the first day we met each other. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 gorgeous grandchildren so we have lots to be thankful for. Since joining Stampin' Up! in 2018 I've grown so much in confidence with myself and I even tackle technology, which for me is a huge step to have taken, but I'm getting there slowly.

Craftalong Tuesday - Picture this/Hand Penned 2 for 1 cards

Hi everyone and welcome to another Craftalong Tuesday! I'm writing tis blog on a very dull, wet but very warm friday here in Witham Essex UK. It feels like it's stormy weather today..... fingers crossed it's not!
So today I have created a card using a few different sets, sorry, but I love the way that you can mix and match all of the different Stampin' Up! sets together and still get amazing results! I've used the Scalloped Contours dies for the main focal point of the card and its cut out of the Hand Penned dsp once it's been glued to a piece of the Basic white cardstock, to give it more stability on the card. Once this piece was cut out I then die cut the 3 rectangle shapes in the centre of it, using the Picture this dies, love these dies you can choose from having rectangle appertures or circle ones, very clever dies!
My cardbase is cut out using Basic white thick cardstock and this measured 5 7/8" x 8 1/4" scored on the longside at 4 1/8" folded and burnished using my bone folder, I then cut myself a further piece of the thick cardstock this time it measured 1/8" smaller than the cardbase. Now on this piece I brushed watered down ink using the large fan tip water painter and Soft seafoam ink - basically you ink a stamp block up and then use the water painter to water it down and apply it to your card with gentle brush strokes, I quite liked the brush effect that it created, giving a very soft background look. This piece was then attached flat using glue, to the front of the cardbase.

To create the second card that I made using the leftover flower and the die cut rectangles that are also leftover from the main focal piece, I cut myself another cardbase, same size, cut myself some layers for it using Basic white cardstock and Highland Heather, making sure they were each cut 1/8" smaller than the layer before.
I then layed my apperture piece onto the front of the card, placed dimensionals onto the reverse side of the rectangles and attached them to the card front, taking the apperture piece away. Once the other card is finished you can then finish this card with the leftover flower and adding a sentiment to it - no waste!

Back to the main (first) card, I now added dimensionals onto the reverse side of the apperture part and attached to the front of the cardbase. I used Highland Heather ink and stamped my sentiment, which was from the Best Year stampset, through the top apperture, and also added 3 of the pearls to the bottom one.

I die cut 2 flowers from each of the colours (basic white and highland heather), using the Hand Penned dies, carefully not to lose the tiny pieces from the insides and then I swapped the inner colour pieces over so that they had alternate colours in the middles (the easiest way I found was to use the putty end of my take your pick tool), then I placed a dimensional onto the reverse side so that it kept the pieces in place. These were then attached with the dimensional onto the card front, I did very gently give the petals a slight curve using my bone folder. Only 3 were used for this card and the other one was what I used on the second card.

I cut 3 leaves out using Pear Pizzazz cardstock, the inner pieces I removed for these and then attached with glue under the flowers.
The bow was tied using the absolutely beautiful Highland Heather grossgrain ribbon, which has a really lovely sheen to it, this was then attached using glue dots and glue too.
That's the card finished all that's left to do now is to finish off the second card with a sentiment, which is again from the Best Year stampset and add a pearl - 2 cards for 1 and no waste, LOVE IT!

Hope you enjoyed todays project, thanks for popping onto my blog and taking a little look I really do appreciate it, until next time take care and have fun creating!
