About Me

My photo
My name is Natalie and I love anything to do with card/paper. I have been a papercrafter for many years now and I never get bored playing with all the wonderful products available. I've been married to my wonderful husband Nathan for 35years now and we are still very much in love with each other as the first day we met each other. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 gorgeous grandchildren so we have lots to be thankful for. Since joining Stampin' Up! in 2018 I've grown so much in confidence with myself and I even tackle technology, which for me is a huge step to have taken, but I'm getting there slowly.

Craftalong Tuesday - Tidings of christmas Part 1

Hi everyone it's tuesday again!! Can you believe it has come round again already. Hope everyone is doing okay and enjoying this fabulous weather we're having at the moment, here in the UK, the sun is shining the skies are blue, and I,m sitting in the garden today writing this blogpost as it seemed rude not too! Well for this weeks craftalong tuesday I have a really cute gift box for you to make, and next week it will be something for inside the gift box..... I know how organised is that, well it is christmas in July, and for those of you that know me you will know that christmas is my favourite time for making things for! So without going on too long let's see what I have for you............

The box itself is really easy to make and assemble together, the rest is where the fun starts and we get to decorate. I'm using the really, starting to become my favourite, gorgeous 'Tidings & Trimmings' bundle which is the annual catalogue and it's just so great to create with.

Materials needed:

2 A4 sheets of Basic white cardstock - 1pc cut to 16cm x 16cm for box base
                                                                     1pc cut to 15.2cm x 15.2cm for box lid
Small leftover pieces for die cutting the stars
Scrap piece for stamping the sentiment
1 A4 sheet of Evening Evergreen -        1pc cut to 9.5cm x 17.5cm for lid top and sides
cardstock            Scrap pieces for die cutting the foilage
1 sheet of 6" x 6" sheet of Tidings of -  Cut along all 4 sides at 1.8cm the lenght is 9.3cm
Christmas dsp    1pc cut from the centre section 9.3cm x 9.3cm
Small scrap piece of Cherry cobbler -  For die cutting the tiny holly berries
                                         cardstock
Small scrap piece of Soft Succulents -  For die cutting the foilage
                                          cardstock
Scrap piece of Gold foil sheet             -  For die cutiing the foilage and tiny star
Linen thread                                          - Small length for tying a bow

Instructions:
1. Score the box base piece of cardstock at 3cm on each side. Score the lid piece at 2.5cm on each side. Cut both pieces like in the picture below, then fold and burnish and glue the tabs to the sides to form the base and lid.

2. Take the Evening Evergreen piece of carstock and with the longside at the top of your trimmer, cut 4 strips at 2cm and then you will have a piece left that measures 9.5cm x 9.5cm.
3. Having cut the dsp as per the instructions these can now be glued flat to the pieces of cardstock you've just cut to size and then these are all glued flat to the sides and the top of the box lid.
4. With the leftover basic white pieces you need to die cut all of the stars, 2 are from the tidings & trimmings bundle and one of them is the largest Stitched stars dies. The 2 largest ones are attached together using dimensionals. the smaller detail star is attached with glue just in the centre, the points are given a slight curve using a bone folder, these are then attached to the box lid using dimensionals, not too many as we want to be able to tuck the foilage underneath.
5. Die cut all of the foilage pieces and the tiny star and berries, and then these can all be glued into place. The tiny berries are easiest to glue if you apply 3 tiny dots of glue to the holly and use the take your pick tool to pick the berries up and apply to the glue.
6 Stamp the sentiment, I used Cherry cobbler ink and once dry fussy cut around the sentiment, apply dimensionals to the back and attach to the stars.
7. The last thing needed is a linen thread bow which is then attache to the box lid using glue.

Side view of the box.

That is the box completed, quick and easy but I think you will agree very cute, and great for giving to someone with a few sweeties in..... or next week we will be making something to fit inside it....... can't wait for you to see! In fact if you come back later I have another blogpost for the SUOC#280 going live and this will show you the card I've made using this same bundle, did I say I'm loving this whole suite?........

Thanks so much for popping over and having a look at my blog I really do appreciate your support, hope you liked todays make and maybe you'd even like to leave me a comment.
Until next time
