About Me

My photo
My name is Natalie and I love anything to do with card/paper. I have been a papercrafter for many years now and I never get bored playing with all the wonderful products available. I've been married to my wonderful husband Nathan for 35years now and we are still very much in love with each other as the first day we met each other. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 gorgeous grandchildren so we have lots to be thankful for. Since joining Stampin' Up! in 2018 I've grown so much in confidence with myself and I even tackle technology, which for me is a huge step to have taken, but I'm getting there slowly.

SUOC#260 - Birthday theme

Well hello again everyone, hope you're all keeping well and staying dry in all this rain we keep having here in Essex UK hopefully it will stop soon. In the meantime let's get crafting as it's another SUO challenge and this time the theme is birthdays.
I have a few birthdays myself in October so I thought great lets make my cards and use them for the challenge yayyyyy...........

This is the card I've chosen to show you for the challenge, I loved making it and it only actually uses inks, card and stamps so let's get started...

Materials needed:

Early espresso card

1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 1/2" scored on longside at 5 3/4" - cardbase
1pc - approx 2 3/4" x 5/8" - for the sentiment

Crumb cake cardstock

2pc - 4" x 5 5/8" -  for the front of card layer and the inside of card

Very vanilla thick cardstock

1pc - 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" - for the front of card layer
1pc - approx 2 5/8" x 9/16" for the 'birthday' sentiment
1pc - approx 1/2" x 3" for the 'its your day' sentiment
2 scrap pieces to stamp the playing cards and the chess pieces stamps on for fussy cutting

Early espresso faux suede ribbon

Small piece about 2" for the corner of the card

Card recipe:

1. Cut, score and burnish (where necessary) all of your card pieces.

2. Glue the 2 crumb cake pieces to the front and the inside of your cardbase, flat.

3. Stamp your chess board image, using crumb cake ink (1st generation), down one side of your very vanilla piece of cardstock, try doing it at an angle so that it gets smaller the further up the card side you go.
Stamp the dice a few times (2nd generation) onto your card piece still using crumb cake.
Stamp the chess pieces using early espresso (2nd generation) and the little club symbols using early espresso (1st generation).

4. Place a small amount of wet glue onto the reverse side of your ribbon and attach it to the righthand side bottom of your card, once the glue is dry cut the edges off so that you get a nice finish against the side edges of the card. Now glue this flat to your cardbase using wet glue.

5. Stamp onto your 2pc for your sentiment (very vanilla pieces) using crumb cake (1st generation) and the chess board stamp. Now stamp your 2 different sentiments onto these pieces using early espresso (1st generation). The birthday wishes (this is from Itty bitty birthdays stampset) piece needs to be glued flat onto the early espresso piece of card and then glued flat onto your cardbase.

6. Stamp your playing cards image and your chess pieces image using early espresso (1st generation) onto the 2 scrap pieces of card, and then using your paper snips carefully fussy cut them out (you only need to cut out the knight and the pawn from the chess pieces). These can all now be glued flat to the front of your cardbase (give them all a bit of a bend using a bonefolder as this gives them more depth).

7. Finally using dimensionals you can adhere your other sentiment over your playing cards and your card is finished.
Here's more of a close up so you can see how I've made mine.

This is another card I've made the same way as the other one just using a different stamp set. The only thing that I did different was I used a blending pen to blend the ink to make it look like there was drink in the glasses and bottle.

Hope you liked todays make it would be lovely if you left me a comment.
Stay safe everyone see you again really soon.

Flowers for every season - one sheet wonder

Hello everyone it's tuesday again and time for another make........
Today I've made 3 cards using a OSW and the 3rd card was using just the piece that was leftover, which makes me very happy....... No waste Yayyyyy.
Now there are many different ways to cut your sheet of dsp to get many cards from just the one sheet. I chose to use the sheet which is cut the way that a lovely demonstrator called Julie Davison cuts hers, it's a really lovely technique to use if you need to get alot of cards made quickly.
So let's begin.............

Materials needed:

Whisper white thick cardstock

2pc - 4 1/8" x 11 1/4" scored on the longside at 5 5/8"  these are your card bases
2 scrap pieces to punch out your 2" circle  for your sentiment
1 pc - 3" x 6" scored on the longside at 3" this is for the small card base

Mistymoonlight and Jade cardstock

Both colours cut the same

1pc - 4" x 5 1/2" embossed for the front of your 2 card bases
1pc - 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" for the front of card
1 scrap piece to die cut a scallop circle from for your sentiment
Scrap pieces to punch out the sprigs
1pc - (misty moonlight only) 1/4" x 3" for the front of small card

Flowers for every season dsp

1pc - 6" x 6" to be cut

Card recipe:

1. Cut an A4 piece of cardstock along the long side of your card at 11 1/4 and then score this into half a t 5 5/8". Now cut your scored piece of card into half along the scored edge at 4 1/8" so this will now leave you with 2 card bases both measuring 4 1/8" x 5 5/8".
2. Cut and emboss your 2 pieces of cardstock (both colours) for the front of your cards and glue into place.
3. Cut the square pieces of card for the fronts of your cards.
4. Punch out your sprigs - 2 of each colour.
5. Punch the white circles out ( I like to use the punch as you get a bigger border of coloured cardstock showing), and then using the scallop die that is just bigger than your punched circle die cut one of each of the colours out. Stamp your sentiments onto both of the white circles, using one of each colour and then glue these to the scallop circles flat.
6. Cut your dsp as follows - cut the 6" x 6" into half then cut one of these pieces into half this will leave you with 2 - 3" x 3" which you glue flat to either piece of the coloured cardstock squares (use both sides of the dsp for the 2 different patterns).
The dsp that is leftover can now be cut on the longside at 5 1/2" and then turn this piece around and cut it to 1 1/2" this gives you 2 - 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" pieces which can be glued flat to the front of your card bases - one centrally for the landscape card and the other slightly to the left for the portrait card.
The small piece of dsp that is leftover - 1/2" x 3" is now cut carefully in half so you end up with 2 pieces that measure 1/4" x 3", these along with the small piece of misty moonlight cardstock are now glued flat to the front of your small card.
7. On my lanscape card (Just thinking of you) I glued my square layer piece onto the front flat, at an angle, glued the sprigs into place and then attached the circle sentiment piece on with dimensionals.

On my portrait card (Get well soon) I glued the square layer onto the front, at an angle, using dimensionals and then glued the sprigs and the circle on flat.

8. Place 3 each of your enamel dots onto each card.
9. Using Misty moonlight ink, I stamped my sentiment straight onto my small card.

Thats all 3 of your cards finished and no waste yayyyyy.........

The love of leaves - Autumnal card

Hello again everyone, well thank goodness we have a bit of sunshine today. It feels very autumnal today the wind is blowing a bit, the sun is shining and there is a slight coolness in the air, which to me says that Autumn is well and truly here.
So with that in mind I thought I'd share a card I've made using the delightful ' The love of leaves' bundle from Stampin' Up!. I love all the seasons that we have here in the UK and the Autumn is when all the leaves change their colours and give such a beautiful look to the landsacape, so I thought I'd make a card with lots of leaves. These leaves when die cut out are absolutely beautiful, they have a lovely stitched edging to them which I instantly fell in love with. So let's begin and make the card............

Materials needed:

Very vanilla thick cardstock

1pc - 21cm x 14.8cm score on the longside at 10.5cm this is your cardbase

2pc - 10.1cm x 14.4cm these are for your front of card layer and the inside of card

1pc - 1.3cm x approx 9cm for the sentiment

Mint macaron cardstock

1pc -1.3cm x 10.1cm for the front of card strip

Scrap pieces for die cutting 3 leaves

Gilded Autumn speciality dsp

1pc - 2.5cm x 10.1 cm for the front of card strip

Crumbcake cardstock

Scrap pieces for die cutting 3 leaves

Cajun craze cardstock

Scrap pieces for die cutting 3 leaves

Metallic ribbon

1p - approx 17cm to wrap the edges around your layer on front of card

1pc - approx 12cm to tie onto the main ribbon with 2 acorns attached

1 thread of the ribbon to tie all the acorns and ribbon bits together with

Acorn trinkets

2 for the front of card

Card recipe:

1. Cut, score and burnish (where needed) all of your card pieces and your dsp piece ready for assembling your card.
2. Die cut all of your leaves out ready for assembling your card.
3. Stamp your sentiment onto your strip of very vanilla card using Cajun craze ink, now you can punch both ends of the strip using your banner punch.
4. The Very vanilla piece of card that is for layering on the front of the card can now be die cut with the die that is going to just cut stitched lines into the card (as in the picture below). This gives such a lovely effect on your card piece.

5. Using tear n tape adhesive attach your ribbon around the edges of your now stitched piece of card, by placing it over the ribbon ends on the reverse of your card piece, attach your piece of ribbon that now has your 2 acorns on it (use the thread to go through the holes on your acorns and then tie it around the ribbon pieces tying them all together).
6. With wet glue attach your front of card layer (with the acorns and ribbon attached to it) onto the front of your card base. And also glue the inside layer of card onto the inside.
7. Attach all of your card pieces and dsp onto the front of your card using wet glue and have them all flat.
8. Now using glue dots and mini dimensionals attach all of your leaves where you would like them to be on the front of your card, leaving one of the smaller leaves to go onto the strip of card near your sentiment, this gives the feel of falling leaves.

And that is the card finished. Hope you liked it, I loved making this card it gave me a lovely warm feeling inside as we start a whole new season together.
