SUOC#260 - Birthday theme

 

Well hello again everyone, hope you're all keeping well and staying dry in all this rain we keep having here in Essex UK hopefully it will stop soon. In the meantime let's get crafting as it's another SUO challenge and this time the theme is birthdays.

I have a few birthdays myself in October so I thought great lets make my cards and use them for the challenge yayyyyy...........

This is the card I've chosen to show you for the challenge, I loved making it and it only actually uses inks, card and stamps so let's get started...

Materials needed:

Early espresso card

1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 1/2" scored on longside at 5 3/4" - cardbase

1pc - approx 2 3/4" x 5/8" - for the sentiment

Crumb cake cardstock

2pc - 4" x 5 5/8" -  for the front of card layer and the inside of card

Very vanilla thick cardstock

1pc - 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" - for the front of card layer

1pc - approx 2 5/8" x 9/16" for the 'birthday' sentiment

1pc - approx 1/2" x 3" for the 'its your day' sentiment

2 scrap pieces to stamp the playing cards and the chess pieces stamps on for fussy cutting

Early espresso faux suede ribbon

Small piece about 2" for the corner of the card

Card recipe:

1. Cut, score and burnish (where necessary) all of your card pieces.

2. Glue the 2 crumb cake pieces to the front and the inside of your cardbase, flat.

3. Stamp your chess board image, using crumb cake ink (1st generation), down one side of your very vanilla piece of cardstock, try doing it at an angle so that it gets smaller the further up the card side you go.

Stamp the dice a few times (2nd generation) onto your card piece still using crumb cake.

Stamp the chess pieces using early espresso (2nd generation) and the little club symbols using early espresso (1st generation).

4. Place a small amount of wet glue onto the reverse side of your ribbon and attach it to the righthand side bottom of your card, once the glue is dry cut the edges off so that you get a nice finish against the side edges of the card. Now glue this flat to your cardbase using wet glue.

5. Stamp onto your 2pc for your sentiment (very vanilla pieces) using crumb cake (1st generation) and the chess board stamp. Now stamp your 2 different sentiments onto these pieces using early espresso (1st generation). The birthday wishes (this is from Itty bitty birthdays stampset) piece needs to be glued flat onto the early espresso piece of card and then glued flat onto your cardbase.

6. Stamp your playing cards image and your chess pieces image using early espresso (1st generation) onto the 2 scrap pieces of card, and then using your paper snips carefully fussy cut them out (you only need to cut out the knight and the pawn from the chess pieces). These can all now be glued flat to the front of your cardbase (give them all a bit of a bend using a bonefolder as this gives them more depth).

7. Finally using dimensionals you can adhere your other sentiment over your playing cards and your card is finished.

This is another card I've made the same way as the other one just using a different stamp set. The only thing that I did different was I used a blending pen to blend the ink to make it look like there was drink in the glasses and bottle.
