About Me

My photo
My name is Natalie and I love anything to do with card/paper. I have been a papercrafter for many years now and I never get bored playing with all the wonderful products available. I've been married to my wonderful husband Nathan for 35years now and we are still very much in love with each other as the first day we met each other. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 gorgeous grandchildren so we have lots to be thankful for. Since joining Stampin' Up! in 2018 I've grown so much in confidence with myself and I even tackle technology, which for me is a huge step to have taken, but I'm getting there slowly.

Kylies' International Blog Highlights - Prized Peony

Hello everybody and welcome to another International Blog Highlights which is run by the lovely Kylie Bertucci.
This months theme is ' Thankyou '.
There are so many beautiful new products to use this month and I've chosen the really beautiful suite called Peony Garden. Hope you like what I've made, I'd be really grateful if you like it and find the time to pop over via the link and voted for me.

The card we're making is called a cascading card, and I absolutely love making these style cards, they're a lot easier than they look.

So let's get started with this months project.........

Materials used:

Basic gray cardstock
2pc - 15cm x 27cm scored on the longside @ 9cm and 18cm card base

Peony garden dsp
One sheet cut into 4.1cm strips

Whisper white thick cardstock
1pc - 2cm x 7.2cm approx for sentiment
1pc - 8cm x 10cm approx for stamping and die cutting flower and leaves

Petal pink cardstock
Approx 6pcs cut shortside of A4  4.1cm wide these are for the reverse of the card

Card recipe:

1. After cutting and scoring your card base pieces you now need to mark along one of the short sides @ 7.5cm, and from this mark you need to cut across to the opposite top corner. You do this on both pieces.
2. Now on one of the pieces you need to measure and cut into the middle from the top between the score lines. The other piece you will do the same but from the bottom, this enables the 2 pieces to interlock with each other. See the pictures below.

3. With your dsp cut into strips your'e now going to cover the front sections of your card with them. I've added pictures below to help you with this. To get your pieces the same cut as the card base you'll need to lay your dsp on to each section lifting it up a bit more from the bottom and pencil marking along the slanted shape (this is all done on the reverse of your dsp). Once you've cut one of the lengths, the length that matches on the opposite side can just be copied from the first piece, taking card to mirror image it. I've used the opposite sides of the dsp for each section comin forward. Glue all of these pieces into place. Don't forget to do the inside of your sections if you so wish.
See pictures below.

4. With your Petal pink pieces these will be cut in exactly the same way as the dsp, only from the back of your card. Before you glue these pieces into place you can do some stamping of the big flower, as this gives our card a bit more interest from the back. You can lay them together and stamp the whole flower which will look pleasing to the eye when you glue them into place, as it will still look whole.

5. Fold your doily carefully in half corner to corner and then place 1 glue dot on the reverse (where it isn't going to show) and glue this into the middle of your top section, taking care that your card will still fold shut flat.
6. Tie a bow with your choice of ribbon and place a glue dot on both of the reverse sides of it and glue it to your card, again making sure that the card still folds flat.
7. Place some faceted gems on to the front panel of your card.
8. Stamp your sentiment and when dry place a glue dot in each of the bottom (reverse side) corners and glue into your panel. Stamp and die cut your flower and leaves and colour them in with stampin' blends, glue the leaves on to the reverse side of your flower and attach the whole thing with 2 glue dots, again making sure your card folds flat.
