Hi everyone, and welcome to another
SUOChallenge where the theme for this week is -
OKTOBERFEST. Now I have to confess that I wasn't really sure what this was and I had to google it! It seems to be a festival that is held yearly over a two week period in September, through to the beginning of October, and it originates from Germany back in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, who later bacame King Louis I, to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.
It seems to be a festival where an awful lot of beer gets consumed by all attending!
Now I don't have any stampsets to do with beer, so I chose to do a card with the the word OKTOBERFEST across it in the colours of the German flag, which I was quite pleased with when I'd finished it, you can definitely say it represents the occasion, even if there is no beer involved!
I took a slimline card, which measured 7" x 8.5" and scored the short side in half.
The layer for the front of the card was cut 1/4" smaller than the card base.
I stamped some of the leaves onto the layer using the Crushed Curry ink and then dabbing some of the Poppy Parade ink around the edges of the stamp, using a finger dauber, before I stamped the image onto the cardstock. Then using my dark Poppy Parade and dark Mango Melody (retired) stampin' blends, I flicked some of the colour with the brush end by flicking it from the inside of the pen lid to create the splashes of colour all over.
This technique gives a really lovely, soft, effect to the card.
The next stage was to attach my different colour card pieces (you only need pieces big enough for the letters to fit on) onto the foam adhesive sheet, place them all with the die cutting letters (152706 - Playful Alphabet which I forgot to add to the product list) on the correct colours and run them through the die cutting machine. The backing from the adhesive sheet on each of the letters is then removed and the letters were attached to the card layer. The whole layer is then glued to the front of the card base and that just left me to stamp some of the leaves like before but this time onto scrap card, and then I die cut them out and attached them to the card using glue.
Hope you enjoyed the card I made for you today, please do go over to the
SUOC#285 and see what all of the other lovely design team members have made for you, there are some amazing creations to be seen, and while you're there why not join in with the challenge yourself, we would all love to see what you can create for this theme.
Until next time
