SUOC#277 - Mark it up/Markers and blends

 

Hello hello and welcome to another Stampin' Up! only challenge, can't believe it's come around again so quickly! This time the theme was to use our Markers and blends, which I thought was a fab theme and got stuck straight in with it, hope you like what I've made and find time to pop over to the SUOC#277to have a little look at all of the other designers makes, which are absolutely fantastic as always, and maybe you'd like to join in with the fun challenge and share what you make too!

Loving this new bundle from the annual catalogue, you'll find it on page 110 it's called 'Quiet Meadow' it has some gorgeous flower dies which will make beautiful silhouette cards and the stamps are just exquisite!

I've made my card using the Stampin' write markers and water to give a watercolouring effect, and it was so much fun and very quick to make my card so let's see how I did it.....

Card Instructions:

I took my cardbase which was 5 7/8" x 8 1/4" scored it on the longside at 4 1/8" and then using my bone folder I burnished the crease so it was nice and crisp.

I then cut myself a piece of the same white thick cardstock that measured 1/8" shorter than the cardbase all the way round the edges, this piece is going to be the front of card layer.

Using the Fresh freesia and the Soft succulents marker pens (one at a time), and using the brush tip end I brushed lots of the colour onto one of my stampin' blocks, then using the large fan tip water painter I watered the colour down and brushed it onto the card layer alternating the two colours, I only did this about half of the way though.

Once the inks are dry I then ran the layer through my die cutting machine using the 'Thanks & Hello' embossing folders, making sure that the word I wanted to be prominent on my card was where I needed it to be (this for me was the HELLO).

I then used the brush end again of the Fresh freesia marker and brushed it all over my stamp with the splodges image on it and stamped it onto the card layer where I hadn't embossed, which is the top part, I did this a few times until I had enough splodges to my taste. Glue this layer to the card fornt now.

I die cut 2 of the tag die shapes out, one in White and one in Soft succulents, I inked the sentiment up using the brush ends of my 2 marker pen colours onto the white die cut, alternating the two colours which then gave me a sentiment in multi colours instead of just the one, which I really liked on my card. The soft succulents tag I cut in half and then glued to the reverse side of the white one giving a small border at each end, this made it pop from the card, rather then just being flat white. This was then attached to the card front using dimensionals.

I stamped the flower brushing the marker over using the 2 colours where needed, and then I just inked the flowers themselves and all of these I fussy cut out using my snips, I do love to do a bit of fussy cutting, but I could have just die cut myself one of the silhouette flowers out and then added the flower parts on seperately using a different colour card. I glued the fresh freesia flowers onto the soft succulents stems and leaves part and then added a few mini dimensionals onto the reverse side of the flowers themselves and glue to the stem and top flower to balance it all out on the card front.

The butterfly was very easy to do, I just used the water painter again and the ink from the marker pens on a stampin' block to do a wash of colour onto a scrap of cardstock and once dried I die cut it out. This I glued flat to the card, after giving the wings a bit of depth with my bone folder, I just applied glue to the body of the butterfly, this gives the impression of the butterfly flying and I love to see this on a card.

The last thing I added were 3 of the very pretty 2021 - 2023 In color jewels as I think it's nice to have just a small sparkle on a card, and that was me finished!
