Expressions in Ink Suite - Blog Hop Touches of Ink

 

Hello everyone and welcome to another touches of Ink Blog Hop, hopefully you've just found your way here from the lovely Daniela post, if not thanks for hopping on to take a look. 

This month the theme for the blog hop was to use the beautiful 'Expressions in Ink' suite, now when I was told this I was so disappointed as I didn't have this suite, but my darling hubby jumped on and ordered the suite for me and this is how I was able to join in the fun with everyone (although the papers were on backorder and I'm still awaiting delivery of them), he is such a super hubby and I love him very much!

I've managed to make 2 small triangle gift boxes and a birthday card with this suite to show you, having made my own OSW (one sheet wonder) to create the boxes with, I'm loving it already and I've only had it for a couple of days. The stamps are so beautiful and just made the creating of a OSW so enjoyable that I even went back and gold heat embossed it!

Stamped images onto a whole sheet of basic white cardstock using, Polished Pink, Evening Evergreen, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz and Just Jade ink.

This sheet was then cut up into strips that were wide enough to fit my boxes, one of them being 2" so therefore I cut a strip down the long side of the card sheet at 2 1/16" so it fitted comfortably, and the other box was 2 1/2" wide so this was cut at 2 9/16" they were both then scored so that the sections measured the same as the width - 2 1/16", 4 1/8", 6 3/16" and cut at 6 11/16" for the smaller box. And for the larger one score at 2 9/16", 5 1/8", 

7 11/16" and cut at 8 3/16".

For the inside box piece you need to have the polished pink cardstock cut at 6" x 6" for the smaller box and 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" for the larger one, basically you can make the boxes whatever size you like, you just need to be able to divide the measurement by 3 all the time.

Small box score each side at 2" then score the 4 corners into the middle score, mark       the halfway point on 2 opposite sides of the square and then score from this mark down to meet the other score line, basically the score lines will look like a W on opposite sides of the card piece.

 Cut all 4 corners off like so and then the box is folded.  Fold and burnish all of the score lines. The 4 corner folds are folded in on themselves and the 2 side folds will be folded out on themselves. 

This is then folded up a bit like a handbag and the wrap piece is glued together around it, making sure that the glue doesn't leak out as the box needs to be able to slide in and out easily.

The larger box is done in the exact same way you just need to do the score lines around all 4 sides at 2 1/2"

The smaller box was decorated with a few of the Ephemera Pack pieces, stamped and die cut flowers and a jewel was added to give a bit of sparkle (I matted white cardstock behind the hexagon shape instead of using the gold).

The larger box I die cut some of the leaves using Evening Evergreen carstock and stamped and die cut the flowers out again this time adding sequins into the middle of the larger flowers along with the other pieces from the Ephemera Pack. The whole section is added to the front of the box using dimensionals.

The box inner will slide out and can hold a sweet treat inside too.

The card I made is a 5" x 5" square card having embossed a smaller piece of the same colour - Polished Pink - using the Bark 3D folder I then glued this flat to the front of the cardbase. I stamped the images out that have dies to match using the colours I used for the box and then I die cut the large element piece out using gold foil, these pieces were then attached together and adhered to the white card layer using dimensionals, this layer is attached to a slightly bigger Evening Evergreen layer and then it's all glued flat to the front of the cardbase. The sentiment I stamped in the Evening Evergreen ink and attached onto the large element piece using dimensionals again.

Loved how this card turned out and it was a very quick make too, I think this suite is going to be used quite alot by myself!
