Playful pets - Happy birthday

Good morning to you all, and welcome back to my blog where I have a cute little card for you today using the gorgeous 'Playful pets' papers. These papers have really cute little cats and dogs on them and they are a delight to use. So let's begin.......

Materials needed:

Cinnamon cider carsdstock

1pc - 4-1/8" x 11-1/2" scored at 5-3/4"

1pc - 1" x 5-3/4"

1 small piece for sentiment

Basic black cardstock

1pc - 4" x 5-5/8"

Playful pets dsp

1pc - 3-3/4" x 5- 3/8"

Sheet with cats on for cutting out

Sheet with wordings on for cutting 1 strip  and cutting out elements

Real red cardstock

1pc - approx 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" - rectangle

Basic white cardstock

1pc - approx 3" x 4" - rectangle

Scrap pieces to adhere to the back of all fussy cut elements

1 small piece for stamping sentiment

1pc - 4" x 5-5/8" - inside of card section

Matte black dots

5 - for front of card

Playful pets trim combo

1 length of black and white

Playful pets trinkets

1 heart for front of card

Card recipe:

1. Fold and burnish the cinnamon cider card piece for the card base.

2. Glue the black card and the dsp onto the front of the card base.

3. Die cut the largest scalloped rectangle from the real red card piece and then die cut the next largest rectangle from the white card piece. Glue these to each other flat.

4. Take the 1" wide strip cinnamon cider card piece and angle the two ends, now give the ends a slight curl and then glue flat to the card base.

5. Roughly cut out the cats and the other pieces from the dsp that are required and then glue them flat on to the scrap pieces of white card stock before fussy cutting them all out (I like having them glued on to card as this gives them more stability on the front of the card).

6. Cut a strip of the small wording  paper, then cut a piece that measures 5-5/8" long (this piece is glued flat to the bottom part of the white inside card section). Glue flat to the inside of card.

7. The remaining piece of the wording strip needs to be cut in to all of the different words ready for glueing on to the rectangle section of the card.

8. Glue all of the elements (cats etc), the black and white twine, the trinket and the wordings all on to the rectangle section and then using dimensionals adhere the whole section on to the card base ( when I cut out my cats the cat to the right of the card was not a whole cat as was the stripey cat and that is why I placed them where I have - waste not want not as they say).

9. Stamp the sentiment, cut each side at an angle and then glue flat to the small piece of cinnamon cider card and cut the edges and then using dimensionals adhere on to the card front.

10. Place the matte black dots on to the card, and the little tiny mouse - can you see it - is glued flat to the front too.

Hope you enjoyed todays card as much as I loved making it. Thankyou so much for popping on to my blog and having a look I really appreciate it and would love it even more if you could leave me a comment. Next week I will have a cute little treat box for you using these papers again as I'm loving using them.
Take care see you next time

Happy birthday to you - punch based card

Hello again and welcome to another tuesday craft along. Im getting this blog ready on a really lovely sunny friday afternoon, although it is still quite chilly outside it is lovely to see the sun shine, as it really does make a day alot more cheery.........

So today I've got a project  that I've made using no less than 5 of the really wonderful punches that Stampin' Up! offer us within their catalogues, and I don't know about yourselves but I am very fond of using punches as they are so versatile and easy to use.

'So let's get on with the project then and stop talking!' I hear you all say...............

Materials used:

Rococo rose/Bermuda bay cardstock

1pc - 5-7/8" x 8-1/4" scored at 4-1/8"

1pc - 2" x 3"

Basic white cardstock

1pc - 5-3/4" x 8" scored at 4"

1pc - 4" x 5-3/4"

1pc - 2" x 4-1/2" - banner

1pc - 2" x 3" - sentiment

1pc - 2" x 6" - flowers

Oh So Sombre DSP

1pc - 3-7/8" x 5-5/8" circle patterned

1pc - 2" x 4-1/4" plain patterned

1pc - 1" x 3-7/8" dark section plain patterned - front of card strip

1pc - 7/8" x 3-7/8" lighter section plain patterned - front of card strip

Snail mail twine combo pack

Approx 13" - white

Approx 22" - blushing bride

Approx 22" - white (for the bermuda bay card base)

Old olive cardstock - 106576

1pc - 2" x 3" - sprigs

Card recipe:

1. Fold and burnish the coloured piece of cardstock, and then do the same with the white piece and attach to the inside of the card base.

This is what it will look like on the inside of the card.

2. Glue the circle patterned piece of dsp on to the remaining 4" wide piece of white cardstock.

3. Wrap the pink twine (if you choice to do the bermuda bay card base then use white twine instead) around the card piece attaching it both ends on the reverse using adhesive tape, it should wrap around 3 times.

4. Take the smaller piece of twine fold in half cut in the middle and then tie it in a double bow ataching it whilst tying it to the thread wrapped around the card piece.

5. The 2 smaller strips of dsp get glued together and then glued flat to the front of the card piece about 2" from the top.

6. Now punch one end each of the dsp and white cardstock that measure 2" x 4-1/2"/ 4-1/4" using the banner triple punch. Glue the dsp banner on to the white banner curling the tails a bit, but only glue about halfway as you don't want them to look flat. Now placing glue on the reverse side of the white banner adhere this to the front of the card piece.

7. Glue the whole card piece to the front of the card base, using wet glue, making sure you take the backing off of the adhesive tape that is holding the twine in place, this will ensure it holds firm on the card base.

8. Punch the 3 daisies out of the larger white piece of cardstock left, using the blending tool brush a light coating of ink over all 3 of them, work from the inner to the outer of the daisies, but brush some of the ink off on to a piece of waste, before you apply it to the daisies. Give all of them a curl using the bone folder glue them together, punch a tiny flower out of the waste piece of coloured card using the confetti flowers punch and glue inside the daisy. Attach the opal round into the middle.

9. With the remaining pieces of card use the double oval punch to punch out 1 of each colour scallop oval. On the white oval stamp the sentiment, I've used the really lovely font that says 'happy birthday to you' which is from the 'Best year' stampset - which has some lovely sayings for different occasions in it. Cut the coloured oval not quite in half and glue flat up to the side of the banner and using dimensionals attach the white oval over to the left so it sits on the banner and the coloured oval.

10. Attach the flower and using the sprig punch, punch out 2 sprigs and then glue them where they need to go.

Hope you enjoyed todays project, what I loved about it was you can get different looks from using the opposite sides of the paper which is what I've done for both of my samples, and I think the way the papers graduate in colour are really effective. The best thing about this paper though is that it's one of the free items you can claim with a qualifying order throughout Sale a Bration!.

Please leave me a comment on my blog love hearing what you think, and take care till next time.......... keep crafting!

Happy Anniversary

Wow it's thursday already where has this week gone?

Today I thought I'd share with you all a couple of cards I've made using the beautifully elegant 'Always in my Heart' bundle. This is a very pretty and elegant set to have. It's easy to create beautiful cards with in a hurry, and we all need cards in a hurry don't we!

I had a couple of anniversary cards that I needed to make and these are what I'm sharing with you today.............

Materials needed:

Basic white thick cardstock

1pc - 7" x 10" scored on longside at 5" - cardbase

2pc - 4-7/8" x 6-7/8" inside and front of card layers

1pc - big enough to die cut the sentiment banner

1pc - 1" x 4-7/8" for additional sentiment strip if needed

Purple Posy cardstock

1pc - big enough to die cut the heart shape/element out

1pc - big enough to die cut the heart border

Whisper white ribbon

Length long enough to tie double bow with

Card recipe:

1. Cut,  score and burnish where necessary all of the card layers.

2. Glue the front and inside layers to the card flat.

3. Die cut the large heart/element out and then using the Painted texture 3D embossing folder, emboss the heart from the middle section and put dimensionals on the reverse side of it.

4. Glue the heart element into place by applying wet glue to the back, but only apply it around the inner section then you can curl the outer part up slightly to give it more depth. Place the embossed heart into the middle again only it will be raised now giving the whole thing even more depth.

5. Die cut the white banner and the purple posy heart border, making sure you keep all of the little dots and hearts that are cut out from within it.

6. Stamp the sentiment onto the banner using Highland heather ink and then fold the banner where the markings have been die cut, now glue this into place over the heart section.

7. Glue the heart border only applying glue to the straight edge (it's less messy this way).

8. Using the take your pick tool putty end pick up the tiny little hearts that came from the border piece and glue them carefully onto the card all over. Now using the pokey tool end dab it into some glue (have a blob on a scrap piece of paper) and dab it onto the card, andthen pick up a tiny dot whilst the end is still sticky (but not gluey) and apply to the glue that's on the card.

9. Tie a double bow and adhere to the card using glue dots.

That's the basis of the card but as my card was for my Son and Daughter-in-laws anniversary I needed to add more to it....

So I layed my words that I needed onto my card piece (mine was cut to size after finished), picked them up with a clear block I and stamped in Highland heather ink. Then I needed to put 'and' in between the 'son' and 'daughter-in-law' and unfortunately the 'Family Party' - 149379 stampset doesn't contain one, so I had to make one.

So I took the 'a' from the sentiment that says 'To a wonderful' by covering the words not needed with washy tape applying ink and then remving tape, first I then stamped the 'nd' from the stampset and then applied the inked up 'a' and voila I had my 'and' yayyy!!

There is always a way round these problems......

Problem solved!!!

This is the other card I made (in exactly the same way) this time using Very vanilla cardstock and the 'Brushed metallic cardstock' (now retired) and then applying a 50 from the 'Playful alphabet' - 152706

I loved making these they were very quick, easy and clean to make which is what I love.

Thanks for hopping on and taking a look at my blog I really appreciate please leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Take care everyone and happy crafting!
